Hunan Provincial Scholarship for the Students of Chinese Language



The announcement about the application for the Hunan Provincial Scholarship for the students of Chinese language in the framework of “The belt and Road Initiative”.

To all universities:

In order to ensure the accomplishment of the strategic initiatives under the auspices “The Belt and Road” in Hunan Province, the education department gives a scholarship to the students of Chinese language who come from the countries that belong to the “Belt and Road” initiative, and who are willing to spend one year studying in China. Here is more information:

  1. University which can administer student recruitment and number of students: A larger number of universities (14), than it was case in 2016, got right to recruit students who learn Chinese, and the number of students is 200.
  2. Programs and duration of study: Full time education for the students which lasts one year.
  3. Terms and Conditions of student recruitment: Only universities can recruit the students that belong to the “Belt and Road” initiative. Recruitment provided by any agency is strictly prohibited.
  • Recruited students are: students who completed high school, university students and students at master degree.
  • A limit on the number of students applies only to the new international students and it does not affect the students who have already studied in Hunan Province.
  • Universities are advised to keep the number of the students in propotion with the number of scholarship. In order to improve the quality of education, 30% of the students can apply for one more degree after they accomplish one year of scholarship.
  1. The scholarship winners get 15000RMB a year, which includes expenses for recruitment, school, basic learning materials, accommodation in the camp and all inclusive insurance for the students in China.
  2. Deadline for recruitment is the end of March 2018 and the student competency is checked by the Education Department of Hunan Province.
  3. Application documents should be submitted to the Education Department of Hunan Province with a form JW202.
