Quality Assurance Centre UMNE to be Steered by Svetlana Perović, PhD

Senate of the University of Montenegro (UMNE) on electronic session appointed director of the Quality Assurance Centre UMNE, a full professor of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics UMNE, Svetlanu Perović, PhD.

Prof. Perović graduated in 1996 from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics of the UMNE, Department of Biology, with an average point grade of 9.3. She compiled and defended her masters thesis entitled "Microbiological tests for the detection of inhibitors of the genotoxic effect of environmental pollutants" at the Department of Microorganism Biology, Faculty of Biology in Belgrade. Topic of the master thesis is in the field of antimutagenesis/anticarcinogenesis.

PhD Svetlana Perović

In master thesis, special attention is paid to substances of plant origin with an inhibitory or modulatory effect on genotoxic agents and their application in the primary prevention of malignancy and other diseases caused by mutations.

Doctoral dissertation titled ″Application of integral approach and analysis of diversity of bacteria communities when estimating eco toxicological status of the Skadar lake″.

As part of her doctoral dissertation research, she worked on analyzes of the ecological and ecotoxicological state of aquatic ecosystems using a battery of microbiological tests and bio-tests on higher organisms (Komet test, Cytotoxic test on cell lines RTG-2 and RTL-W1, EROD test, etc.). She also worked on the comparative analysis of the genetic diversity of microorganisms in the water and sediments of the aquatic ecosystem of Lake Skadar, using classical and molecular genetic methods: DNA isolation from natural samples, sediments and water, PCR technique, TTGE electrophoresis (Temporal Temperature Gel Electrophoresis), RFLP (Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism), isolation of mercury-resistant bacteria.
