The Confucius Institute at UoM celebrated the International Day of the Chinese Language

International Chinese Language Day is traditionally celebrated on April 19 every year. On this occasion, in a crowded hall at the Faculty of Economics of the UCG, the Confucius Institute prepared a rich cultural program for visitors and lovers of the Chinese language and culture.

The event was opened with her speech by the director of the Confucius Institute at UCG, Assoc. Dr. Milena Lipovina-Božović.

"This year, our event is particularly festive, because it is happening in the year that celebrates 20 years since the establishment of the first Confucius Institute in the world, but also because we are on the threshold of the tenth birthday since the establishment of the Confucius Institute at the University of Montenegro. During these decades of work, our Institute was and remains a bridge that connects Montenegro and China, not only through language, but also through art, tradition, culture and education," said the director of the Institute from UCG Lipovina-Božović.

The director also reminded of the importance of the Chinese language, which, as one of the oldest languages in the world, has a special wealth and history that stretches back thousands of years.

"The Confucius Institute at the University of Montenegro is a center for everyone who wants to get to know the Chinese language and culture. Our mission is to promote cross-cultural understanding and cooperation, providing education and cultural programs that strengthen the community and enrich the individual.” pointed out Lipovina-Božović.

The secretary of the Confucius Institute, Tamara Bulatović, led the attendees through a meaningful program in which the attendees could: (a) enjoy the performance of a Chinese song entitled "Everything is possible", (b) learn something new about Chinese dance with the performance of the participants Chinese language courses, as well as the "Sonrisa" dance club, (c) listen to a Chinese poem with the relaxing sounds of spring, (d) and to experience the true beauty of the friendship between Montenegro and China through two songs (Montenegrin and Chinese) performed as part of the KIC choir performance of the POP CHOIR, and (e) attend the awarding ceremony at the calligraphy competition.
