On April 24, 2024, an international scientific conference "The Constitution of the SFRY from 1974 - fifty years later" was organized by the Historical Institute of the UCG, in which 16 participants from Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro took part. At the beginning of the conference, the director of the Institute, scientific advisor Dr. Radenko Šćekić, said that through these and similar gatherings, the Institute will contribute to the development of historical science and the illumination of key issues from the recent and distant past.

According to Prof. Dr. Cedomir Čupić, history, although often disputed, has a significant influence on the future, thanks to the lessons it provides. " The right moment for deep conversations on this topic is, as history itself advises, fifty years later. This is not only a regional issue - federalism, as a form of organization that has existed since the first organized states, but has global significance and different implications over time," said Čupić.

Opening the conference, prof. Dr. Veselin Mićanović – vice rector for teaching at the University of Montenegro, recalled the importance of the year 1974, when the University was founded, which this year marks its fiftieth anniversary. In honor of the jubilee, as he emphasized, round tables are being organized to consider the future ten-year development of Montenegro in the fields of education, economy, health, law, culture, energy sustainability, traffic, reindustrialization and digital transformation. He expressed the hope that the conference will raise many topics and lay the groundwork for reflection on different perspectives, which is crucial for better understanding and progress.

At the four sessions of the conference, the following took part in their presentations: Dr. Dejan Jović, (Faculty of Political Sciences, Zagreb, Croatia), Dr. Slobodan Lakić, (Faculty of Economics, UCG, Podgorica, Montenegro), Dr. Izet Šabotić (Faculty of Philosophy, Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina), PhD Budimir Aleksić, (History Institute of UCG, Podgorica, Montenegro), Dr. Petar Šturanović, (Faculty of Law UCG, Podgorica, Montenegro), Dr. Jelisaveta Blagojević (Assembly of Montenegro, Podgorica), MSc Matija Stojanović (Faculty of Law UCG, Podgorica, Montenegro), Andrija Mirović (Faculty of Law, Mediteran University, Podgorica), Msc.
