FuturUM: A Symbol of Knowledge and Progress

The University of Montenegro has been a promoter of the development of the Montenegrin state and society for half a century. With the vision of its founders that Montenegro should evolve into a modern society where words, intellect, and wisdom have always been woven into all deeds, the contemporary University of Montenegro enters the new decade with the slogan FuturUM.

This slogan combines the concept of the future, using the Latin word "futurum," and the term "um," which in this case is ambiguous—it symbolizes both knowledge and intelligence and is also an abbreviation of the University’s name in English, "UM."

This blend of words and symbols makes FuturUM an emblem of hope and prosperity, where knowledge and wisdom intertwine, and the University of Montenegro remains a key source of sustainable, innovative, and community-oriented education.

The key visual symbol of the anniversary is the Roman numeral L, which denotes 50 years of the University. The slogan FuturUM and the logo form a complete semantic and symbolic unity. Therefore, the slogan FuturUM should be read as a reminder of the emblem of hope and prosperity (futur), formed by knowledge and wisdom (um), with its Montenegrin institutional reference being the University of Montenegro (UM).
