Learning outcomes:

On successful completion of the studies, the student will be able to: - write and speak in two foreign languages (English and Russian, or English and French) at an advanced level, - translate simple written texts from and into the two foreign languages, using simple translation techniques and principles, - use basic linguistic terminology and apply the linguistic principles from the areas of phonetics, phonology, morphology and syntax of the two foreign languages, - recognise the basic movements in the literatures of the two foreign languages, list the most significant authors, define their literary styles and set them into the corresponding socio-historical context, - interpret the relations and interactions among translation, language, literature and culture, and develop intercultural communicative competence, - be prepared for further translation studies in order to achieve full translation competence.
