About the Library
The Central University Library is the central library of the University of Montenegro, of general scientific character and open, which acts as a support for teaching-educational and scientific-research processes at the University. Moreover, the Library is responsible for the organization and development of entire library and information system of the University, being at the same time the home library for all specialized libraries within organizational units of the University, i.e. faculties, higher education schools, academies and institutes.
As a leading scientific library, the Central University Library provides support for development of all scientific research in Montenegro.
The library mediates materials and information from all fields of science, collects and keeps as archival copies doctoral dissertations and masters theses defended at the University, publishing production of the University and its organizational units and all papers of teachers and researchers, which serve as basis for creating personal bibliographies.
In addition to the fund of monographic and serial publications, the University Library owns a collection of doctoral and masters theses defended at the University of Montenegro from its foundation until today, a collection of reference publications and two legacies.
The Library fills in the lack of its own library materials with interlibrary loans.
The entire library collection is cataloged in the COBISS software package and is available to users online. The Central University Library (formerly the University Library) is, together with the National Library of Montenegro, the oldest member of the national library and information system COBISS.CG (Cooperative Online Bibliographic System and Services - https://www.cg.cobiss.net/) in 27 more libraries in Montenegro are participating in the construction of it today. By implementing all available user COBISS3 applications, the Central University Library completed the automation of all segments of its work and today has a fully integrated library business model.
According to the Law on Publishing, the Central University Library receives one copy of the total publishing and printing production in the country.
Beneficiaries of the Central University Library are students, teachers and researchers, as well as all other potential users who need its services.
A reading room with 80 user seats, a reference collection and a workspace for professional staff are located on the ground floor of the technical faculty building. The depot with library materials is located in the basement of the same building, in the atomic shelter. The Librarys management - director and administrative assistant are located in the building of the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro.
